E-Z Kold - icebox conversion
- Model EK-12CPA
- Installed Sept 2007
- Uses R124a refrigerant
- Lines have quick-connect/quick-disconnect pressurized fittings
- Utilizes "spillover" design. Using 1" foam, icebox is divided into 1/3 freezer - 2/3 refrigerator sections, with a 3" spillover between them.
- Cold Plate:
- Welded stainless
- Size 16" x 10" x 2.5"
- Uses glycol/water eutectic solution
- Freezing point -25°C
- Condensing Unit:
- Air cooled
- Mounted in upper-aft end of port cockpit locker, behind perf-board shield
- Uses Danfoss BD 3.5 compressor
- Brushless 12VDC motor
- Rated for continuous operation at 45 degrees of heel
- Rated current while running: 6 Amps
- Measured current draw: 6.6A
- Average runtime 4-6 hrs per day
- Average power consumption 33 Amp-Hours per day, after initial cooldown
- Directly wired to #2 battery, bypassing main battery switch
- Toggle switch with in-line ____A fuse, mounted thru port bulkhead, above icebox
- Digital Thermostat
- Model MT-511Ril from Full Gauge Controls
- Mounted in port side of trim panel under companionway
- Requires 72mm x 29 mm cutout
- NO contact rated at 8 Amps
- Control range: -50 - 105°C / -58 - 221°F
- Settable hystersis: default -15°C off / -10°C on
- Selectable C/F display
